Trump Calls W. Bush Administration Liars
Here’s Donald Trump correctly condemning George W. Bush for lying us into the Iraq War. The Bush administration blatantly peddled the false narrative that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and was somehow involved in the 9/11 attacks, despite ample evidence to the contrary. Unfortunately, as president, Trump has sought advice from many of the same people most responsible for pushing us into Iraq, most notably his national security adviser John Bolton. Trump, despite condemning the Bush and Obama foreign policy has pursued many similar interventionist policies of his own in places like Yemen, Afghanistan, and Venezuela.
Little Marco Threatens Maduro
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) February 24, 2019
Here’s Senator Marco Rubio expressing his deep concern for the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela by tweeting images of Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi before and during his brutal murder at the hands of U.S.-backed rebels in a regime change orchestrated by Hillary Clinton and the Obama administration. The tweet from February 2019 was a clear threat to Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro, who has been the target of a coup attempt led by Rubio and top Trump administration officials like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo since January 2019. The Americans have attempted to remove Maduro from power and install Juan Guaido, whose position as President of the National Assembly in Venezuela was essentially equivalent to Nancy Pelosi’s as Speaker of the House in the U.S. However, the coup has so far remained unsuccessful, as the military and a large portion of the population still support Maduro and do not recognize the legitimacy of Guaido as the new president of Venezuela, a country with the largest stockpile of oil in the world (not that that has anything to do with America’s desire for more control of the country’s regime).
Obama Promises Closing of Guantanamo
Here’s Barack Obama in 2008 promising to close the Guantanamo Bay prison. Guantanamo was opened in 2002 by George W. Bush to detain prisoners from the War on Terror, often indefinitely and without trial, and under brutal conditions where they are subject to torture. Obama made closing Guantanamo one of his major campaign promises in 2008, and while the number of prisoners was gradually reduced, the prison remains in operation as no major effort was made by the Obama administration to fulfill its promise to close it.
George W. Bush Promotes Humble Foreign Policy
Here’s George W. Bush as a presidential candidate in 2000 almost sounding like a libertarian, advocating a “humble” foreign policy and arguing that it is not America’s role to go around the world telling other countries how to live. Once elected, Bush proceeded to rule as one of the most bellicose, interventionist presidents in American history, launching the disastrous Iraq War and committing various war crimes such as the sanctioning of secret torture prisons.
Gideon Rose, Stephen Colbert Joke About U.S. Coup in Ukraine
Here’s Gideon Rose, the editor of Foreign Affairs magazine, bragging to Stephen Colbert about the U.S.-backed coup in Ukraine in 2014, using the analogy of America stealing Russia’s girlfriend away from them while the Russians were distracted with the Olympics. The mainstream media regularly chastises Russia for annexing the Crimean peninsula in response, but rarely ever discusses U.S. provocation of the coup that destabilized the country and ensuing American support for the neo-Nazi junta that took power after the previous regime had been overthrown.
Hillary Clinton Celebrates Gaddafi Murder
Here’s Hillary Clinton in 2011 bragging about the successful NATO/U.S. led regime change and assassination of Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi, which she spearheaded as Secretary of State. The war was promoted as a necessary intervention to protect the Libyan people from a tyrannical dictator, Gaddafi. The result of the brutal murder of Gaddafi by U.S.-backed rebels has been a dramatic increase in violent Islamic rule, ongoing civil war and even open slave markets in Libya.
